Q: I have installed the app on my iPad / new iPhone, how do I access the recipes I have already purchased?
Apple keep a permanent record of the packs you own based on your Apple ID so you don’t need to pay for them again. On your new device, whether it’s an iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, once you have downloaded Jamie Oliver’s Recipes again you can ‘restore’ your previous packs from the Settings menu. To do this make sure that your device is signed into your existing Apple ID, the one that you made the pack purchases with previously and navigate to Settings from under the More menu. From here you can tap Restore Purchases. You will need a WiFi or 3G connection and depending on your connection may take several minutes to complete the process. Alternatively, once signed in with your existing account you can download the packs one-by-one from the Store. If you tap on the pack you already own an alert will appear from to inform you that you already own it and can download it free-of-charge.
Q: I can't see any pack images, it says they are downloading. Where are they?
A: If you take a look under ‘More’, you may find that there is an item in the ‘Download Queue‘ flagged as 'stalled'. The message "stalled" will appear if the device is struggling to find a connection to the internet. It may be that your device switched between 3G and WiFi during a download or that your signal strength was not strong enough for another reason. To solve the problem, please go to More > Settings and press "Clear Download Queue" button. This will clear all of your downloads from the queue. You will now need to tap on 'Restore Purchases' on the same screen for the app to contact Apple and begin pulling down all of the content you already own. Please take care to use the same Apple ID as you used to make the original purchases.
Q: I'm trying to download videos and they are showing up with errors in the download queue. How can I correct this?
The message "stalled" or "download error" will appear if the device is struggling to find a connection to the internet. It may be that your device switched between 3G and WiFi during a download or that your signal strength was not strong enough for another reason. To solve the problem, please go to More > Settings and press "Clear Download Queue" button. All your downloads in the queue will be cleared. You will now need to tap on each of the videos you want to download again.
Q: How do I download more recipes packs?
A: Recipes and videos are available to buy in themed packs from the Store built into your App. Access this by tapping on the
Store icon at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively you can also use the Search feature to discover new recipes from the Store. Once
in the Store, select a Recipe Pack and swipe across to see the recipe ideas and content within it.
Q: I already own Jamie’s 20-Minute Meals. How can I access the 20 Minute Meals recipes from within the new app?
A: The 20 Minute Meals recipes are available to buy from within Jamie Oliver’s Recipes but unfortunately there is no way to unlock them,
even if you already own them in the older app. We are working with Apple on ways that this may be possible but for the foreseeable future you will need to
run two apps side-by-side.
Q: I’ve changed devices, how do I access my recipe packs without buying them again?
A: Apple keep a permanent record of the packs you own based on your Apple ID so you don’t need to pay for them again. On your new device,
whether it’s an iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, once you have downloaded Jamie Oliver’s Recipes again you can ‘restore’ your previous packs from
the Settings menu. To do this make sure that your device is signed into your existing Apple ID, the one that you made the pack purchases with
previously and navigate to Settings from under the More menu. From here you can tap Restore Purchases. You will need a WiFi or
3G connection and depending on your connection may take several minutes to complete the process. Alternatively, once signed in with your existing account
you can download the packs one-by-one from the Store. If you tap on the pack you already own an alert will appear from to inform you that you
already own it and can download it free-of-charge.
Q: I lost the 3G/WiFi connection whilst buying a pack and it hasn’t arrived in my library. How do I download the pack again without being
charged?
A: Apple keep a permanent record of the packs you own based on your Apple ID so you won’t be charged twice. If you are unsure whether you
have been charged and want to download the pack then click on the item again in the Store. If you already own the item then a message from Apple
will be displayed to tell you that you can download it again free-of-charge.
Q: How do I download videos?
A: You will need to have the app open for downloads to complete. From the Video menu you can select videos for download by taping on
them. Tapping multiple items will add them to the queue. Downloads will only take place over WiFi unless you switch on Cellular Data in the
Settings menu, located in the More menu. To check on progress you can view the Download Queue directly from the More
menu. If the Download Queue is not shown then there is nothing being downloaded.
Q: How do I delete videos?
A: You can delete all of your locally stored videos by tapping the Delete Videos button in Settings which is available under
the More menu. It is not currently possible to delete individual videos.
Q: Will you be adding German Language Support?
A: Yes, the app is now fully translated into German. Please update to the latest version of the app to see this.
Q: I have started installing the App and it seems to have stalled?
A: As the app is relatively large at 112MB it can take a while to download, anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes and above depending on your
connection. If you wait, you should hopefully see the blue bar slowly progress.
Alternatively, you can sign into the App Store through iTunes on your computer and download the app from there.
Q: I have downloaded Jamie Oliver’s Recipes and it does not Sync onto my device?
A: Plugging your device into your computer and opening iTunes you should see your device appear on the left pane of iTunes under devices. Click
on the name of your device and then in the main panel of iTunes you should see a picture of your device and a series of tabs above it. Click on the tab
labelled 'Applications'. Make sure the 'Sync applications' checkbox is ticked as well as the specific checkbox for Jamie Oliver's Recipes which you should
see in the list of applications on the left-hand side of the main panel.
You will also need to make sure the software version of your device is at least 4.3. You can check this and upgrade by
clicking on Check for Update on the summary tab of the same device menu in iTunes. Apple will prompt you and upgrade your software if necessary.
Another reason that the app will not sync could be that your iPhone or iPod Touch does not have enough spare capacity. Try removing some Apps or Video
that you no longer use to free up more space on your device. You can see how much free-space you have at the bottom of the same device summary
tab.
Q: How do I delete a recipe from the Shopping List?
A: To delete a recipe, from the shopping list, press the wastebasket button and then tap the red circle next to the recipe name to select it.
Once selected, press 'delete selected' to remove the recipe from your shopping list. To simplify the shopping list, recipe items can only be deleted in
their recipe groups.
Items that you add yourself or that you add from the essentials section can be selected and removed individually.
Q: Will Jamie’s Recipe Store be updated with new recipes and videos?
A: Yes. We have an exciting variety of delicious new packs to release throughout the coming months. Our latest pack, 'Fresh and Wholesome' is
available now under the Recipes tab. We have also recently added support for iPad to take full advantage of the larger screen and beautiful photography.
